IN-CHARACTER INFORMATION

Name: Dr. Samantha Grimm
Fandom: Doom ( film )
Age: 26
Canon Point: Post-film
Original Universe or Alternate Universe? OU

Personality: She's more than just a pretty face, I'll tell you that much.

Let's start out by saying that she knows how to handle her sass. ( If the way she interacts with her brother is any indication, anyway. ) Finding herself surrounded by military personnel the moment John's team enters the facility, she doesn't allow herself to be intimidated by them. Nope, not in the slightest. She's a scientist, not a soldier, thank you very much Sarge. Your shit don't impress or scare her in the slightest. Go on, step off. Shoo. She has data to download.

No seriously.

Okay you know what, fuck it, I was gonna write this shit out in paragraphs but I'm lazy and if you want clarification on anything just freaking ask me or something I DO WHAT I LIKE and you also love me so I'm already a shoo-in, right? Yeah okay let's do this. I'll make up for this shit in my samples don't worry. It's also distracting as hell to try to write an app while on Skype but these are my choices and I have to live with them.

- She's detail-oriented, as is seen in the way she performs the autopsy on Dr. Willits. ( She makes note of the heart, liver and kidneys, and notices that the appendix has been taken out. )
- She can maintain a sense of humor even when elbow-deep in some dude's chest cavity or digging a flashlight out of his throat. So much to the point that she can make fun of Duke for not knowing how to flirt. ( Try again, sir. OH WAIT YOU'RE DEAD NEVER MIND. )
- She most certainly doesn't give up easily. Okay so John's dying, right. Boy got shot. She wants to inject him with C-24 because she believes there is good enough in him that he won't turn into one of the monsters he's had to put half a clip into. "I know you," she says. And she trusts herself well enough to know what she's doing. ( And she was right, oh, look at that. Kid's got some super-human business going on for him now. )
- She's a damn fighter. She might not be a marine like her brother but she doesn't just lie down and die, either. Even when she's injured and John tells her to get to the lift, she doesn't just go wehhhh no I can't I'm bleeding everywhere. She fucking crawls and gets herself out of the way while John gears up to beat the absolute shit out of the Rock. I mean Sarge. Samoan Thor WHATEVER.

Background: Have like the entire motherfucking film write-up because this canon is so small Sam doesn't even have her own wiki page beyond .. well okay this is kind of hilarious.
Other Notables: Unlike John, she doesn't have any of that C-24 nonsense going on for her so she's completely human. Still a badass, though. Don't you doubt it for a second.

Inventory: I'm probably going to regret saying this but FUCKING GO NUTS YOU GUYS I don't give a shit. Give her a tribble or something.

NETWORK SAMPLE:
[ the moment she wakes up, there's the dizzying sense of the unfamiliar. her eyes aren't open, but they don't have to be for her to know she isn't in the lift with her brother anymore.

she doesn't know if she's blacked out, if he's managed to get her the medical attention she needs or if something else has gone horribly wrong – but they'd been on their way to the surface. everything had to be fine, didn't it?

( no, it didn't, because that just wasn't how things worked for her. her or john, as the case may be, but for the moment she's going to attempt not to think about it. )

she feels an itch begin, steadily, at the back of her neck and out of reflex she reaches behind her. there's a sharp intake of breath as she touches the very edges of the ports beginning at her nape, a sickening sense of dread that brings the muted taste of bile to the back of her throat and she sits up properly, twisting this way and that in an attempt to get a good look at them. it doesn't work, and she finally lets that breath out, but the dread doesn't go with it. it stays like a tangible thing in the pit of her stomach, coiled and foreboding.

next to her are the glasses, and she picks them up. toys with them for a moment before figuring out how to enable the text function, and she sends a message to the network.

This is Dr. Samantha Grimm, requesting any information available on my current whereabouts.

Also on the location of a man by the name of John Grimm. Apparently, he also goes by "Reaper." He's my brother.

Thank you.

LOG SAMPLE:

She wants to say it isn't lonely. That Mars isn't the desolate kind of place that sucks the air right out of your lungs before you have a chance to complain about it. She has her work, has things to occupy herself with to the point that she doesn't have time for much else – but that's not how the human mind works. Stimulus is one thing, and distractions are another. Her work keeps her busy, yes, and that's the point.

But she can't deny that she misses him. The years have stretched between them, and barring those scribbled-out birthday cards, there's not been much between them since she'd decided to follow in their parents' footsteps. ( She loves her work, of course she does, but it doesn't change the fact that it's driven them apart. And there will always be a part of her that wonders if he resents her for choosing that route. ) There's something, sitting right at home in the middle of her chest that thinks he does, and it aches more with the passage of time.

Which is all the more reason for her to keep herself busy.

But she thinks about him. Day in and day out, as she makes her rounds and during what little downtime she has, which is – more often than not – spent reviewing data just for the simple fact that she doesn't know what else to do with herself. Again, it keeps her busy, keeps her centered and focused and when her thoughts begin to wander, at the very least, she tries not to let them.

Some days, it works. Others .. not so much.

And when he shows up with his team – his men – she smiles and nods like that something in her chest hasn't cracked. Whether or not he picks up on it .. that's all on him, isn't it?
